What makes me different: Peak Ascents is fully run and operated by Dylan Connole, an American Mountain Guides Association Certified Rock Guide (the highest level of certification in rock climbing) with 20 years of experience climbing around the world. His vast experience climbing, spending tens of thousands of hours developing as a climber, completing routes as big as The Nose on El Capitan and as difficult as 5.14 (which he has done many of) along with his professional training make him uniquely qualified to offer expert coaching and guiding at the highest level. He has trained with sports psychologists and shared a rope with many of the biggest names in climbing and can pass on the skills and lessons he has learned in a fun and engaging manner.

Ideal customers / industries served: Climbers who are willing to put in the time to develop themselves as climbers, push themselves, and want to get the best guiding and coaching to develop as a climber.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I’ve never climbed, can I still book a trip?

A: Yes! We have many offerings suitable for people without any prior climbing experience. It’s all about learning, challenge by choice, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

Q: Does Peak Ascents provide climbing gear?

A: Yes, we can provide a climbing helmet, harness, and climbing shoes for each person climbing as well as ropes and technical gear for the group. You’ll just need to have a small backpack and personal clothing, food, and water for the day (but we’ll try to help out with that too if you need!).

Q: I have my own climbing gear I want to use, is that ok?

A: Absolutely! As long as your gear is suitable for rock climbing (bike helmets are not rated the same, sorry) and is in good shape, you’re welcome to use it. Using your own gear on a guided day is a great way to be comfortable in your own shoes (get it?) and learn more about how to use it.

Q: What happens if it rains on the day I have scheduled?

A: We will watch the weather and make a decision on whether the day needs to get postponed for weather. If there’s a chance of rain, we will likely still go outside, but we won’t be climbing if there’s any lightning. In the event we need to reschedule we will work with you to find a new date, or refund you if that’s not possible.

Q: Do you have any discounted options for a person booking a day?

A: We do! We understand that there are significant costs to guiding and seek to offer a lower barrier to guided climbing in as many ways as we can. Clinics are a great option for one person to learn skills and get out climbing in a group without paying for a full day of guiding by themselves. We also offer heavily discounted Climbing Club most weeks for climbers to get outside after work for a few hours. We are even happy to take a booking and post date options to our social media to try to find you a partner to split the cost of a day with.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: We don’t have a strict age limit as long as children can fit safely in our harnesses (~4-5); however we do require children to have an adult with them. There’s no upper limit, if you’re psyched to get out we’re happy to go!

Q: What can I expect for my day of climbing?

You’ll be contacted by Dylan before your adventure to go over trip specifics, but most days you’ll meet at the parking lot for the climbing area (you’ll receive a pin), get your climbing gear, then head to the crag for the day, returning by your end time to sort gear.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: We have a full gear list on our website, but for a regular day of climbing you’ll just need to bring what you want for a day outside (food, water, layers, good footwear for rocky ground, any medication you need, sunscreen, and a backpack for it all).
